Events

The K&LT is native to California, and so the layout is planned to only go to shows in California; many of you are either too cheap or tied down to come out here to see the real deal in person at the events listed below – that’s what this blog is for!

Events, and photos taken as they played out, will be added and removed from this list each year according to the K&LT’s ability to attend.

The Great Train Expo, Sacramento, CA

CalExpo, here we come! I been to CalExpo multiple times, from the State Fair to the Great Train Expo.

As of the last few years, the Sacramento Valley Garden Railway Society, of which we are members, has set up their modular model train layout there; after years of adding K&LT stock to the display, we finally get to run our own trains.

Colfax Railroad Days, Colfax, CA

This event is every other year, but it’s totally worth the wait.

The SVGRS and the K&LT set up in downtown Colfax, a comfortable distance from the railroad tracks, on the premises of both the original and current train stations.

Folsom Railroad Days, Folsom, CA

We set up at the Holiday Inn across the street from the Placerville & Sacramento Valley Railroad, which preserves one of the first rail lines in California.

Bring a hat and an easy-up, it’s gonna be hot!

International Railfair, Roseville, CA

Head to the Placer County Fairgrounds off of All American City Boulevard, and no matter what weather November throws your way, you will not regret it.

I got two trestle bridges during the 2016 show; one that I sold to a fellow SVGRS member, and the one you see that’s part of the K&LT layout.

More events will be added as they decide to invite us: the anniversaries of the Skunk Train up the coast; the California State Railroad Museum’s Small Train Holiday; special events as far away as Niles Canyon and Suisun City in the Bay Area. The possibilities are, hopefully, endless!
